Public transport between JB / SG is troublesome, not as smooth as the one in Shenzhen.
There are 4 ways as I understand to travel between jb and sg
1. bus from downtown (like queens way, close to Bugis or newton)
2. Take MRT to Kranji and then change the xborder bus
3. Train from woodland to jb sentral
4. Take 泥"mount"的 in queensway taxi station
(of coz, i know some ppl ride bicycle to cross border)
The most comfortable one should be the train but it is always fully booked by the workers who stay in JB.
My strategy is take bus or cab if you are solo traveller or do not have much luggage. Rent a car if you are a group of ppl. Adv is: 1. you only need to stay on the car to pass the immgration 2. Point to point: they pick you from hotel to hotel, save time. 3. More comfortable and flexible, Disadv: 1. expensive, 2. Traffic jam may take you lot of time.
I may negotiate a better price / deal when i deal with car company or driver.
If you have time, you can try below pork noodle shop (hawker centre) which get star from Michelin. It is pretty close to the hotel but better to queue before lunch time (say 11) to avoid the queue.
