I read through the school materials. They are required to understand some difficult vocab, and to technically break down the meaning, apart from briefly understand the story line.
We have only started the chapters last Saturday. How about your boy's school? As this kind of old chinese literature is a new style to them, parents are surprised to see the materials are given out only in mid May. If the chapters are something they have touched base before, I don't mind this late.
Her school, a govt subsidy school, used to teach it at p6 unlike your schools. i have no comment as to whether it is appropriate to teach such in p5. I have never mentioned it is inappropriate in front of my girl as I have a lot to revise with her, 文言文has just been introduced. what I meant was it is now approaching the end of term. the school released the exam scope while the girls still not yet been given 文言文，if this year they have to do it earlier at p5, the school can do it better by teaching the girls earlier.
