Reiki Program
Reiki sessions are available to Cancer Center patients through the generosity of the Leon V. and Marilyn L. Rosenberg family. Sessions are available during inpatient stays, as well as during outpatient infusion visits.
Reiki: A Relaxation Technique Reiki (pronounced “ray-key”) in Japanese means “Universal Life Force Energy,” which is described as the energy flowing through all living things.
Reiki is a relaxation technique that supports the body’s natural ability to move toward balance and to experience a sense of well-being. It is a simple, gentle and safe “hands-on” technique that promotes stress reduction for those who receive it. Reiki sessions at BIDMC commonly last 15 to 20 minutes.
Reiki provides patients with a few quiet minutes away from the hospital routine to refocus and relax.
Reiki at BIDMCOur Reiki program is staffed by trained practitioners who volunteer their time. Many of the Reiki volunteers are nurses or BIDMC staff. Sessions are free and currently available for both inpatients and outpatients.
