Salzburg一天半未必夠, 市中心已可看大半天, 如果妳用一天時間去國王湖或冰洞在Salzburg會看少很多地方. 我個人去過3次Salzburg, 所以有些地方之前去過12年那次就沒去.

Me too, been to Europe for a dozen times and still love it, it happens that we always miss out Austria like it's a bit out of the way, and the Balkan has recovered from the war not so long ago...

I just feel that it maybe another few years before we can go to Austria again let alone Salzburg...our boy is a wanderlust like me he has travelled fairly extensively loves Russia India Estonia Australia that sort of places...in the next few summer holidays he has lined up for us Central Asia, Peru, Caucasus, Namibia...

Your boy is amazing. My younger boy also has a wish list but I have visited many countries on his list before so I want to take him to other places. My older boy is not interested in traveling with me anymore.
In your case you may want to concentrate on the Balkans. Those countries are beautiful, and they are different.

If you have seen Salzburg before you can take a train to Werfen on the first day, then take a free shuttle to the entrance of the ice cave. Transport information can be found in the cave's website. The second day you can go to Berchtsgaden to visit Konigsee and the salt mine. Need to get up early.

and that's why we leave only two nights to Salzburg! We are planning to do also lake bled, skojcan, postojna, plitivice, Dubrovnik, kotor, mostar, sarajevo, mokra gora and fly back from Belgrade... but in roughly two weeks, and not driving... look too ambitious for me coz we tend to go very slowly in the past like spending five days in Jerusalem alone...

It is day 1 and we will just be coming in after a stop in Germany.
If it is Werfen, I am worried that it may be too tiring, though we are quite used to steps and hiking.

Can we do just Koningsee on Day 1? Seems easier, but it will be a Saturday. I read some messages that it will be full of people in the summer and may have to wait hours for the boat.

It takes over an hour to get to Berchtesgaden and then you have to take a bus to Konigsee. The whole trip will take at least one and a half hours. Then at Knoingsee you should ride the ferry all the way to Salet. Along with stopping at St Bartholomä and some walking the whole trip will take 3-4 hours.

On Saturday there will for sure be a queue for going on board the ferry. Allow some waiting time. The strategy is to get to Konigsee as early as possible. I was there on a Wednesday and I got there shortly after 10. I still needed to wait for over half an hour.

It is too much of a rush.

It should be nice.

On the contrary, I always like to see as much as possioble and my wife sometimes complains

If you have more time. There is another great cave in Slovenia not far from Postojna, but you need to apply in advance and arrange for transport to get there. The water cave tours lasts for over 3 hours and they only allow 4 tourists a day to get in there.
