probably didn't express it well enough in English. You were saying some international school are prestigious that not everyone could get in even if they have the money. I was saying no to that, because what I saw back in school was that not everyone's talented, either academically or in terms of ECA, but I am sure that everyone (as in my social circle, plus in the same school as me), no matter in HK or then in England in boarding, their family are rather wealthy. People never needed a CV in their lives, and they could get internships at like JP Morgan, because they are related parties, hence 大客.
True that there are hardworking students, like one of my friend, but I also remember how he stressed to me that his parents are only professionals (they are accountants at a Big 4 firm). I think this shows you what I was referring to when I said it depends how wealthy they are then.
Never heard anyone '睇大量課外書和學術雜誌', not even back in boarding where people get into Oxbridge. A few of my friends back then never graduated University, what I can say is that not everyone's end result depends on studying, my friends took over their family business and are doing extremely well financially speaking, if that's the end result you were referring to. And no, they are not 乜都識 in exams haha.
I do take my academics more seriously, I went to law school, then now doing a MSc now, but my end result would never be like them.
But I have taught a few little boys and girls in the primary division during my gap year, probably because they were young, I do see a difference in the attitude towards learning. Also, in terms of being polite.
